Archive for April, 2005
As of Monday, 25 April 2005, Kirsten and I now own our college educations. We no longer have to worry about Rice or A&M coming by the house with tongs to “repossess” our knowledge and intellectual acumen. I won’t pretend we’re not a little relieved. Because we are.
For those of you who like watching baby videos, or just don’t have cable, I give you Riley: Month Four.
See her sit! See her look at things! See her flail her arms indiscriminately!
A word of warning, though, the video is a bit longer and bigger than previous installments (a scant 24MB). So, start the download, make a sandwich, make some phone-calls, check your email, respond to your email, read the paper, and before you know it, you’ll have new baby-footage to enjoy!
Actually, I only went for a day-and-a-half of fun (A-S!), as the rest of my time was spent learning the wonders of on-line education–Blackboard.com Style! Anyhow, we managed to have a grand time. The Marriott was very accommodating to us new parents, though I’m sure we’ve been flagged worldwide for the amount of baby spit-up we left secreted around the room (professional travel tip: double check your complimentary shower cap!).
As for Quito, itself, what a nice town. It’s reminiscent of a larger Cusco, but without the overwhelming crush of hawkers, shoe-shine-boys, and Dutch tourists. Coming from Lima, we were especially impressed with the inclusion of trees and grass on their mountains. We’re hoping to see that innovation come to our part of Peru anytime.
And, as always, there are pictures.
Oh, and while we’re on the subject of pictures, we got a few of Riley in the last week or so. Hopefully these will hold off withdrawal symptoms for a few more days.
